Carrying the work into other rooms.
Hineni Circle LLC carries the creative and publishing side of the work — books, plays, commissioned writing, workshops, and ritual direction for communities and organizations that want to bring this work into their own rooms.
We Come to You
Residency & Community VisitsHineni Circle LLC can come to your synagogue, church, school, community center, or organization. We bring the circle to you — readings, workshops, ritual performances, and conversations. We work with your community to create something that belongs to you.
We keep costs as low as possible. We want this work used. Contact us to discuss what is possible.
We Direct Your Ritual
Ritual DirectionLaurie S. Sherman is available to direct ritual events — High Holiday services, lifecycle ceremonies, community gatherings, and other occasions that call for the full weight of theatrical and ritual skill. She brings both the theater director's eye and the ritual practitioner's understanding.
Available for synagogues, havurot, and community organizations. Contact us for availability and rates.
We Write for You
Custom Ritual & Play WritingCustom ritual pieces, plays, and liturgical texts are written for specific communities, occasions, and needs. A ritual for your congregation's anniversary. A play for your school's community. A prayer for a moment that has no existing words.
Every community has stories that have not yet been told in the right form. We can help find that form.
We Teach the Circle
Workshops & TrainingWe offer workshops in the Hineni Circle method — for theater educators, clergy, community leaders, and anyone who wants to learn how to facilitate ritual theater in their own community. The circle is a skill. It can be taught.
Half-day, full-day, and multi-session formats available. Contact us to discuss your needs.
We Host Readings
Play Readings & Salon EventsWe can host or facilitate a reading of any of the plays in your community — a salon evening, a Shabbat gathering, a school event. Readings are low-cost, high-impact, and often the beginning of something larger.
Readings can be arranged with minimal lead time. Contact us to discuss.
Bring a Hineni work to your community.
For our first group of participating communities — congregations, sisterhoods, women's reading groups, and others that want to perform one of the Hineni works — the Seed Fund offers an honorarium rather than charging royalties. The playwright, director, and cast members are available to help answer questions or make suggestions along the way, and we would love to be invited.
In exchange, we ask that you save and send along a copy of any promotion, programs, and documentation — photos or video — from your gathering, for our files. The Seed Fund is sustained by tax-deductible gifts to Hineni Project Inc., an Arizona 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Tell us what you need. We will figure out the rest.
Every community is different. Every occasion is different. We work with you to create something that fits your community, your budget, and your vision.
